Jake Tip: Resist the tendency to swing the dumbbells to assist each rep.

Lie down on your side. Hold a light weight (such as a 2.5-pound plate or 5-pound DB) in your top hand with your arm in a 90-degree angle on top of your hip, holding the weight in front of you on the floor. Press your upper arm tightly against the side of your body, flex the back of your shoulder, and rotate the weight from the ground in a semicircle until your hand points to the sky. Return to the start position. Switch sides after completing half the set.
